Visited a shooting range for the first time alongside my brother and husband. We enjoyed firing the .22 gun. Felt some anxiety as no instructor was present that day. Thankfully, my experienced brother guided both me and my husband, allowing all three of us to participate simultaneously. Overall, it was a positive initial experience, and I'm inclined to try again. An instructor would've been reassuring, but safety personnel at the range assisted us. No reservations were required; we simply walked in. Also very affordable.
Tl;Dr - if you value your time, go somewhere else. If your time is cheap you can roll the dice, just don't expect too much. They have precisely zero respect to their customers' time and experience.
Took my time, brought a sitter, went to the range. Shot 2 mags and then they had a malfunction with the hvac.
Hey, I get it, things happen!
... Well, that's actually what I told my buddies I brought with me there a couple of weeks ago, we spent 40 minutes waiting that time and had to miss a work meeting.
20 minutes deep and we understand it's not going anywhere, we decide to leave. The front desk apologized for the inconveniency - I had mentioned it's unfortunate to experience the same thing TWICE within 2 weeks. He asked us if we shot anything, and because we did - charged us for the full time. I told him it makes no sense and he replied "this is the owner's policy, if you shot 1 round you're billed in full".
Now, don't get me wrong, I couldn't care less for $32.48 — it's the absolute lack of ownership and respect that rubs me the wrong way.
I'm a small business owner myself, hence why I did not leave a negative review last time this exact thing happened even though they were extremely rude that time on top of wasting our time.
But enough is enough!
Shame on y'all for having such an extremely poor empathy to your own patrons!
Very bad experience taking my wife to shoot a few of our many pistols here. She not being as experienced as I am I had her sharing my lane so I could instruct her. There were 2 armed male employees standing directly behind us the entire time where we felt completely uncomfortable. Then one younger guy decided to step forward and correct my wife on where she was standing telling her to step forward to my right side next to me while I was shooting. This caused my ejected casings to be directed towards her head. I stopped shooting to tell her to step back when we heard the 2 employees talking loudly one said "yea I took a girl out one time but she couldn't shoot either so that didn't work out." Me and my wife have been to a few gun ranges prior to this and are life long members of a gun club around Bandera Tx. I am very experienced with a multitude of platforms. There was no call for the rudeness she experienced. After reading recent posts and replies here I also see that the owner seems to attack people who do not leave good ratings. Well sir I am being honest about our experience at YOUR place of business. I would love to see this type of activity not take place concerning the way my wife of 10 years was treated. We will not be back which is horrible since they are almost our neighbors being right down the road.
Initially the front desk guys were tough/cranky to deal with but after a few more visits I’ve just realized they’re rough around the edges and a lot of it is I think they’re on high alert always with safety and it’s got to be stressful with people coming in that you might not know yet being in the firearms industry. Anyway, the range is nice and the prices are affordable. The in range operators are friendly and helpful. I’ve been coming here a good amount of times and have learned a lot as well. They’re open decently late too to about 7pm most nights which is good.
I am a long time shooter, ex-military, competitive shooter, been to the schools. This range is a great place for new shooters and perspective first time gun purchasers, all the way to seasoned shooters looking for some trigger time to hone skills and test firearms. The staff is laser focused in being nice and friendly in profession and activity that demands no less than perfect adherence to safety. Take the time to get to know them a little, and understand the nature of the facility. Great sound supression, top shelf ventilation and the security of knowing there is always someone to help with and yes enforce safety on the range. They also have a cadre of availiable instructors that are as nice and friendly as they can be in a situation to demands high standards. The pro-shop is a jewel. Great systems in place to help you find the exact firearm you need at fair prices.
(In response to your response) the place wasn’t even close to full, people probably didn’t want to deal with this garbage. There was an open lane, we (attempted to) pay for 6 people, management accepted, and did not provide accommodation …
